Tom’s Garlic Bread
Ingredients
1 loaf bread (traditionally white Italian bread, but any type will work, even rolls cut in half), sliced into thick slices or cut horizontally in half
4 cloves garlic, finely crushed
2 tablespoons butter, softened to room temperature
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil (alternatively, use 4 tablespoons of butter total)
2 teaspoons fresh parsley, chopped
pinch of salt
3 tablespoons finely grated Parmesan or Romano cheese (optional)
Mash garlic, butter, and oil, parsley and salt together in a small bowl with a fork.
Thinly spread onto the bread or rolls with a knife.
Put in the oven under the broiler until golden brown.
