Mary’s French Dip Hoagies
Makes enough dip for 4 sandwiches
Ingredients
Au Jus Dip:
Horseradish sauce:
½ cup sour cream
¾ teaspoon horseradish
1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
Sandwiches:
Soft white hoagie buns (1 per person)
Roast beef (3-4 slices per sandwich)
Swiss cheese, optional (1 slice per sandwich)
1 packet of French onion soup / dip mix, or make it yourself:
2 tablespoons dried minced onions
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley
¾ cup cold water
½ teaspoon sugar
1 ½ cup beef broth
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/8 teaspoon salt
Mix all Au Jus dip ingredients, plus the slices of roast beef, in a saucepan and warm over medium heat.
Remove the beef and assemble sandwiches. Optional: Broil assembled sandwiches in the oven a few minutes to melt cheese. Serve with warm dip and horseradish sauce.
