Gingersnap Cookies


Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 

  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves

  • ¼ cup sugar

  • 2 ¼ cups flour

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar

  • ¾ cup shortening or vegetable oil

  • ¼ cup molasses

  • 1 egg


  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. 

  2. Combine half the flour and remaining ingredients. Beat well until blended.

  3. Mix in the rest of the flour.

  4. Shape dough into 1-inch balls and roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.

  5. Bake 8-10 minutes.

  6. Cool on a rack.
