Gingersnap Cookies
Ingredients
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground cloves
¼ cup sugar
2 ¼ cups flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
¾ cup shortening or vegetable oil
¼ cup molasses
1 egg
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Combine half the flour and remaining ingredients. Beat well until blended.
Mix in the rest of the flour.
Shape dough into 1-inch balls and roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 8-10 minutes.
Cool on a rack.
